Shriram Mahila Vidnyan Mahavidyalaya (SMVM), located in Paniv, Solapur district, is a women’s degree college established in 2014 under Shriram Shikshan Sanstha. The college is affiliated with SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai and accredited with a ‘B’ grade by NAAC, reflecting its commitment to quality higher education. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in science, including B.Sc. (Chemistry) and M.Sc. (Analytical Chemistry), with a focus on academic excellence, holistic development, and empowerment of women learners from rural and surrounding areas. The institution provides modern infrastructure, smart classrooms, laboratories, a well-stocked library, hostel facilities, transport services, and a secure campus environment to support both academic and extracurricular growth. Shriram Shikshan Sanstha has been an outstanding charitable institution & is well known for its good quality education. There is increasing demands for quality education in rural areas and creating self employment opportunities for rural women and youth. Meeting these demands is the driving force behind the humble beginnings of Shriram Shikshan Sanstha
It started with a School and Jr. College. Subsequently, we identified the need that there was no institute in the nearby vicinity that provides education post school to Girls, so we started a small batch of 150 all girls students in a SNDT university run Diploma in education (D.Ed) course
Today Shriram Shikshan Sanstha (SSS) has a number of institutes under its umbrella. Including two Schools (English 1st to 10th) and Marathi medium (8th to 12th) , two diploma and two degree colleges (Pharmacy and Engineering), four Agriculture colleges, Two Science colleges (BSC and BCA/BCS), One Industrial Training centre (ITI) One Science Academy for students pursuing JEE, CET and NEET entrance exams. This year we aim to get Skill India courses too
Today the total strength of the students in SSS has reached 4169 comprising of 1680 girls and 2489 boys
SSS also offers hostel facilities for girls as well as boys students. Today SSS hostel has a total strength of 358 girls and 294 boys residing in hostels
SSS is situated in a small village called Paniv located in Malshiras Taluka of Solapur District. The surrounding areas are highly drought prone and have been neglected by the government authorities. The nearest Bus stand (Transportation), Market and Hospitals are situated ~7 kms from Paniv i.e. in a town called Akluj. The nearest metropolitan city is Solapur i.e. 115 kms from Paniv.
Prior to the inception of SSS, the only educational facility available to the youth was in Akluj. It was highly tedious for the students to travel that far in order to seek education. Moreover since there was only one institute, it was impossible for everyone to get admission. The Trustees of SSS donated a land covering 20 acres focused on providing educational services, hostels and transport to make it convenient for students to seek quality education at a affordable rate.
It is our vision to bridge the rural and urban divide and provide quality affordable education to rural youth and thereby empower them by providing better opportunities.
Our main focus is on empowerment of women and rural youth through extensive training and generating growth opportunities for rural youth.
15 years back students had to go to Pune or Solapur for good education. We wanted rural students to get equal opportunities.
Making quality education accessible and affordable to rural India was our goal. Girls would be forcefully married off at the age of 15-16 but now because the option for education is available, they can fulfill their dreams of completing education till their graduation and further.
Our dedicate mission it to impart value and time-based technical, technological and agriculture training supported by cultural and humanitarian view. We want to inculcate and cherish moral values and good inter personal human relationship among the people in India and humanity at large.
